Lessons from Ashura to Elect Leadership to Stop Injustice Today

There are many events in history which have taken place on the day of Ashura, but a very important lesson continues to be overlooked each year. We must not allow this oversight to continue in light of the injustice in the Muslim world and even in our own community here in the west. There is no greater lesson from the martyrdom of Hussain (رضي الله عنه) that we can take then the legitimate process on the election of a leader. As talk surrounds us on removing injustice by electing new leadership, let’s learn from the greatest political lesson from the month of Muharram and specially the day of Ashura.
