Seerah 40: Minor Ghazawat – Umrah – the Battle Mutah
Saturday Jul 25, 2020
Saturday Jul 25, 2020
Having subdued two powerful sides of the Confederates coalition, the Prophet (ﷺ) started preparations to discipline the third party, i.e. the desert Bedouins, who took Najd for habitation, and continued in their usual practices of looting and plundering. Unlike the Jews of Khaibar and people of Makkah, they had a liking for living in the wilderness dispersed in scattered spots, hence the difficulty of bringing them under control, and the futility of carrying out deterrent campaigns against them. However, the Prophet (ﷺ) was determined to put an end to this unacceptable situation and called the Muslims around him to get ready to launch a decisive campaign against those harassing rebels. When Dhul Qa'da month approached towards the close of the seventh year A.H., the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered his people, and the men who witnessed Al-Hudaibiyah Truce Treaty in particular, to make preparations to perform 'Umrah (lesser pilgrimage). The Battle of Mu’tah was the most significant and the fiercest battle during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allâh (ﷺ), a preliminary and a prelude to the great conquests of the land of the Christians.

Sunday Jul 12, 2020
Sunday Jul 12, 2020
Al-Hudaibiyah Truce marked a new phase in the process of Islamic action and life of the Muslims. A series of events confirmed the profound wisdom and splendid results of the peace treaty which Allâh (ﷺ)called “a manifest victory”. Quraish had recognized the legitimate Muslims’ existence on the scene of political life in Arabia, and began to deal with the believers on equal terms. Quraish in the light of the articles of the treaty, had indirectly relinquished its claim to religious leadership, and admitted that they were no longer interested in people other than Quraish, and washed their hands of any sort of intervention in the religious future of the Arabian Peninsula. The speaker systematically confirms the treaty of Al-Hudaibiyah was a treaty of victory for the Muslims leading up to the Battle of Khaibar.

Friday Jun 26, 2020
Friday Jun 26, 2020
Though militarily it did not assume its full dimension, the Bani Al-Mustaliq (Muraisi‘) Ghazwah had certain implications that brought about a state of turbulence within the Islamic State, and resulted in disgracefulness to the hypocrites. Moreover, it entailed enactment of consolidating legislation that attached an impression of nobility, dignity and purity of Islam to the Islamic community. Abdullah bin Ubai, a terrible hypocrite was full of resentment against Islam and the Muslims because he believed that the Prophet (ﷺ) had dispossessed him of his leadership over Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj, two clans already agreed on the Prophethood of Muhammad (ﷺ) and his leadership over them.

Seerah 34 The Battle of the Trench (Ahzab) and the events leading to the Battle Once again, peace and security enveloped the Arabian Peninsula and this turbulent area began to experience a period of lull after a whole year war. The Jews, however, whose treachery, intrigues and disloyalty made them taste all types of humiliation and disgrace, were not admonished. After they had been exiled to Khaibar, they remained waiting anxiously for the results of the skirmishes going on between the Muslims and the idolaters. The Jewish delegation then started a fresh effort and toured some parts of Arabia and managed to incite the confederates of disbelief against the Prophet (ﷺ), his Message and the believers. The Messenger of Allâh (ﷺ) summoned a high advisory board and conducted a careful discussion of a plan to defend Madinah. After a lengthy talk between military leaders and people possessed of sound advice, it was agreed, on the proposal of an honorable Companion, Salman Al-Farsi, to dig trenches as defensive lines. The Muslims, with the Prophet (ﷺ) (encouraging, helping and reminding them of the reward in the Hereafter, Peace be upon him) at their head, most actively and diligently started to build a trench around Madinah. Severe hunger, bordering on starvation, could not dissuade or discourage them from achieving their desperately sought objective. On attempting to attack the Muslims and break into Madinah, the idolaters were surprised to see a wide trench, a new stratagem unknown in Arabia before, standing as an obstinate obstruction. Consequently they decided to lay siege to Madinah and began to maneuver around the trench trying hard to find a vulnerable spot through which they could infiltrate into Madinah. Several lessons can be taken form this incident as the speaker looks into the hardships that Muslims around the world face.

Seerah 32: Battle of Uhud Part 3
Friday May 29, 2020
Friday May 29, 2020
We continue as the Battle of Uhud rages on with the martyrdom of Mus‘ab ibn Umair(RA). When Mus'ab was killed, the Messenger of Allâh (ﷺ) delivered the standard (Raya) to ‘Ali bin Abi Talib. ‘Ali, in conjunction with the other Companions, went on fighting bravely and set marvelous examples of heroism, courage and endurance in both defense and attack. Hostilities of the enemy grew fiercer than ever with the aim of foiling the plan of withdrawal of the Muslims. Their attempts however proved to be fruitless due to the heroic steadfastness of the lions of Islam In a regular withdrawal and with great bravery and boldness, the Muslims finally retreated to the cover of Mountain Uhud. Then, the rest of the army followed them to that safe position. In this manner, the genius of Muhammad (ﷺ) foiled that of Khalid bin Al-Waleed. There were about seventy Sahabah that were martyred in the battle. The speaker provides commentary on a critical point about the power and unity of Islam as he notes that some the Sahabah that lay dead next to each other fighting in the cause of Allah(سبحانه وتعالى) were once enemies of each other due to their tribal affiliations (i.e. Aws and Khazraj). Islam united them in brotherhood. Using this this example of unity, the speaker examines the recent tragic incident of the killing of the African-American George Floyd by police. The speaker discusses not only this incident, but also highlights the underlying injustice due to racial / ethnic / religious differences that run rampant in the world and provides the only solution for this grave problem.

Saturday May 23, 2020
Saturday May 23, 2020
The speaker continues detailed descriptions of the heat of the Battle of Uhud in Part 2. In the midst of describing the battle, the speaker enlightens us on a very important point on how Muslims are to view life (in general) and the relationships we keep in life according to Islam. The speaker takes us through step by step through combat providing us clear vision of the lessons we should take. One of the greatest lessons from the Battle of Uhud was that of the neglect of the Archers. This incident is explained in great detail with reference to the lessons we as Muslims must take today. Furthermore, the speaker describes the actions of the three types of fighters and their intent to provide us an understanding of the motivations when carrying the dawah. The most frightening hour of battle was that incident where the beloved Prophet (ﷺ) was injured. A detailed analysis of some of the Sahabah (RA) who showed unprecedented heroism and marvelous sacrifices to shield and protect the Prophet (ﷺ) is discussed. As the Battle drew to a close, the sight of the martyrs was extremely heart-breaking for the Muslim and the Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ)- yet the speaker takes us through the understanding of the lessons that we can take today for our own lives.
