Taraweeh Reflections Day 7 - Ramadan 1444 Hijri 2023

On this the 7th Day of Taraweeh Reflections, the Sheik examines Suratul A'raf, focusing on verses 163-166, which discusses the story of the people of Saturday. This story is connected to an incident mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah and serves as a reminder for the Jews who lived in Medina at the time. The people of Saturday were commanded not to fish or work on the Sabbath, but they disobeyed this command, leading to punishment from Allah. This story highlights the importance of obeying Allah's commands and serves as a warning to those who may consider breaking their covenant with Him.

The people of Saturday were tested by abundant fish appearing on the Sabbath, but not on other days. Instead of following the command, they sought loopholes to continue fishing, leading to their eventual punishment. The story also emphasizes the importance of enjoining good and forbidding evil as an essential aspect of being part of the best ummah (community) raised for mankind.

The people were divided into three groups: those who broke the command, those who tried to stop them, and those who remained silent. The first two groups were punished, while the third group, who both refrained from breaking the command and attempted to prevent others from doing so, was saved.

Let this serve as a clear reminder to Muslims to not only follow Allah's commands, but also to actively discourage evil and promote good. The lesson from the Quran emphasizes that staying silent in the face of wrongdoing can also lead to punishment. We as Muslims must strive to learn from the mistakes of previous nations and fulfill our role as the best ummah by obeying Allah's commands and enjoining good while forbidding evil.

Taraweeh Reflections Day 6 - Ramadan 1444 Hijri 2023

On Taraweeh Reflection Day 6, the Sheik discusses verses 11-23 of Surah Al-A'raf in the Quran, which talks about the creation of Adam ‘Alay-hi ‘s-salām and Iblis and the command for the angels to bow down to Adam ‘Alay-hi ‘s-salām .

The Sheik points out that Iblis' disobedience and refusal to bow down to Adam ‘Alay-hi ‘s-salām  was due to his arrogance and belief that he was superior to Adam ‘Alay-hi ‘s-salām  because he was created from fire while Adam ‘Alay-hi ‘s-salām  was created from clay.

The Sheik highlights the difference in responses between Iblis and Adam ‘Alay-hi ‘s-salām when they made a mistake. Iblis made excuses for his disobedience and accused Allah(swt) of guiding him astray, while Adam ‘Alay-hi ‘s-salām and Eve recognized their mistake and sought forgiveness from Allah(swt). The Sheik draws parallels between the story in the Quran and the current state of the world, where individuals and nations are disobeying Allah(swt)'s commands and making excuses for their actions.

The Sheik emphasizes the importance of recognizing Allah(swt) as the judge and ruler, and seeking forgiveness and mercy from Him. The Sheik warns against the influence of Shaitan, who seeks to misguide and destroy humans, and emphasizes the need for individuals and nations to follow Allah(swt)'s commands to avoid being misguided by Shaitan

Taraweeh Reflections Day 5 – Ramadan 1444 Hijri 2023

On the 5th day of Taraweeh reflection, the Sheik delves into the Quranic verses of Surah Al Maidah (48-50) to highlight the significance of following the laws and guidance revealed by Allah through the Prophet Muhammad (saw). The Sheik explains that Allah(swt) has sent down the Quran as a book of truth, which confirms the previous revelations and serves as a criterion over them. This means that Muslims are to follow the guidance of the Quran, as opposed to the desires of others, even if they happen to be the majority.

 

The Sheik also emphasizes that Allah(swt) has prescribed different laws and ways of life for different nations as a test, and Muslims are expected to race towards doing good deeds according to the laws prescribed for them. The speaker further reminds the audience that Allah(swt) has appointed a law and a method for each of us, and it is important to follow them in order to be successful in this life and the hereafter. After the Prophet Muhammad (saw) established the first Islamic state in medina, the rule of Islam was maintained throughout the ages until the year 1924.

On March 3, 1924, which correlates with the 28 Rajab 1342 AH, the rule of Islam was removed. The laws of Islam were removed from Society, the Khilafah was destroyed which left the Muslims divided, and allowed tyrants to rule who did not represent them.

Since then, we Muslims have been living under oppression and tyranny, death and destruction, poverty and the worst of which, the absence of the rule of Islam.
